Has anyone experienced labor with panic disorder?

06 Jul

I am 33 weeks pregnant and preparing for labor and delivery. I have panic disorder, and my largest dread is having attacks all through labor. My disorder is under control at the second by use of Prozac as I was hospitalized all through mid-pregnancy for the attacks. My doctor had no choice but to use medication sorry to say. With something as severely painful as labor, but, I am worried that I will still have panic attacks regardless of being on medication.

Has anyone ever experienced labor and delivery with severe panic disorder, and is willing to share their tale with me? Do you have any suggestions to curb any attacks all through labor or to prepare for labor? What do the doctors/nurses do if you have attacks all through labor? Is there any medication you should take to relax you all through labor? (Yes I will be discussing these things with my doctor at my next appointment, but would also like to hear private experience.)

Was there anything funny that happened at the hospital?

28 Jun

When I was young, I was in the childrens ward and a few things happened that was kind of amusing. Kids took books from the playroom, which they were not to do and hid them under their pillows. They got caught. Small boy kept on asking for a drink, go to the bathroom and kept on taking off his clothes. Kept the nurses busy.

The Breast Crawl

27 Jun

Video In rank
Every baby, when placed on the mother’s abdomen, soon after birth, has the skill to find its mother’s breast all on its own and to choose when to take the first breastfeed. This is called the ‘Breast Crawl’. Ever since the exciting observations of the human infant’s skill to crawl to his or her mother’s breast shortly after birth, latch on, and suckle all on its own, mothers and fathers have been entranced by this incredible feat. To reckon that for many decades both caregivers and parents believed that in order to breastfeed, a baby would not know what to do to feed and was usually pushed onto the breast. The baby would just look and lick and often balk at the intrusion. Really at birth the infant may know more than the mother. We are now aware that a number of other interventions also interfere with the infant’s natural skill to explore, seek, and find the breast all on his or her own. Narcotic medication either injected or as agents used in epidurals given to the mother all through labor can conveying via the placenta to the infant and cause difficulty for the infant to latch on; and also the mother’s discomfort from an episiotomy can interfere. Over hydration from intravenous fluids may cause edema around the areola, and gastric suction by catheter causes distress to the infant. Fascinatingly suctioning is no longer recommended for 90% of babies who are breathing, have excellent color, and no meconium at birth, since it is so aversive to the baby’s comfort with sucking

Will there be any long-term damage done if I use the B&BW pillow mist every night?

25 Jun

I have not been able to sleep excellent all summer. So, last week I bought the Black Chamomile Pillow Mist from Bath and Body Works. I have been using it every night and it works really well.

But my mother is a nurse and she says that it probably isn’t excellent for me to use this every night because I don’t know what kind of chemicals and whatnot is in it. I looked on the bottle and it does not have the ingredients listed. I want to know if there are any harmful chemicals in the pillow mist and if this is a safe manufactured goods for me to use every night?
