My 13 month old isn’t that interested in solid foods?

16 Aug

I am still nursing my daughter, 13 months. She is allergic to milk and eggs.

She isn’t that attracted in eating solid foods. She would rather nurse than eat solids. I’ve never given her jarred baby foods. I chop up table foods so that they are controllable for her, but I don’t usually puree foods. She chews really well. She really likes Cheerios and will eat those all day long of her own volition. Sometimes she is so excited about eating, but most times she couldn’t care less.

I offer her a variety of foods all day long. I try to spoon feed her; I try to let her feed herself; I try finger foods with no pressure. She won’t eat more than a bite.

Beginner at Sewing… recommendations on a cheap sewing machine?

14 Aug

Okay so I have been wanting to buy a sewing machine and start making my own stuff (nursing covers, pillows, blankets etc) I want to buy a book on how to make lots of different things.. maybe even get crazy and make curtains.

But I was wondering if anyone could urge a cheap sewing machine for starters (local huge name stores are Kmart, Target, Walmart, Kohls- then we have mall stores; boscovs, jc, and sears), and possibly some books of some fantastic stuff to make with it?
sorry if its not in the right section.

I’m looking for some helpful tips on how to nurse my baby comfortably while sitting up in bed.?

12 Aug

Do you prop pillows behind you, or have a special pillow or something to give back support?

I usually nurse laying down, but there are times when I want to sit up, and I need excellent support for my back.

Best answer gets the 10 points.

What was the best purchase you made for your newborn?

10 Aug

I have a lot of gift cards that I need to spend for my small girl whose coming in 4 weeks. I have a double stroller, carseat, boppy pillow, and a nursing blanket, but I honestly can’t reckon of anything else I might REALLY need that I don’t have already. Was a swing benificial for you? I never used one with my son but my mom thinks I’ll want one with the new baby. I have the small vibrating seat, a bassanet (although she’ll probaby just sleep with me) and a playpin as well. I don’t need bottles, or blankets or clothes…..Can you reckon of anything I missed? And what was the best buy you made and how much was it?

how to breastfeed comfortably in public?

09 Aug

Ok I’m really large chested like d. So when I try to breast feed in the cuddle position he backs off the breast b/c the are too huge. At home I can lay down a pillow or my bobby. OR I such lay him on my leg and bend over a bit. ( which I know your not infer to do) Some time I take blankets with me. But that a lot of distress. I feel stupid taking blankets in the heat of summer..
Has he gets older will I be able to do the cuddle position?
Is there a way to nurse lacking pillows, blankets, bobby, etc for public?? Other than cuddle position. Any advice???? thanks

( been breastfeeding exclusively for 4 months w00t w00t
He won’t take a bottle so I don’t push it. I don’t give any formula. I have a nursing cover.

What is wrong with my little kitty Tucker??

07 Aug

Tucker is my kitten, he was born on May 21, and I got him when he was 7weeks 6 days ancient–I was told he had been absolutely weaned from the mother already. Up until this week he has been perfect!!! His new habit though isn’t so nice, and maybe it isn’t healthy. He has begun to ‘nurse’ on peoples clothing, on pillows, on blankets, just about anything soft. Why has he started to do this now? Also, everytime he does this we give him some food as a distraction, and that seems to delight him. Is he just trying to tell us that he is hungry (but sometimes he does it when there is a plate of food right next to him)

He has a vet appointment on Saturday, but I was just wondering what to expect.
