List of things to pack for my stay at the hospital?

20 Jan

Because of a condition I have, I can’t spend the early part of labor in the comfort of my own home. I need to go to the hospital as soon as it starts so I will be there for quite a while. The hospital here makes you stay a mandatory 24 hours after birth, and it’s 3 days if you need a C-section. The following list is what I am bringing for me and the baby, as well as what my mother, who will be there with me will need. Let me know if there’s anything I should add!

FOR MOM (me):

Why does my kitten suck on pillows?

16 Jan

My 12- week ancient kitten keeps going back to my fuzzy pillows and sucking/biting on it as if nursing, and kneading her paws on either side. Why is she simulating nursing? Is everything okay?

Breastfeeding help needed!!?

14 Jan

Last year, I had my daughter, and I tried to breastfeed. I had so many problems and went to see 2 lactation consultants. In the offices, I could breastfeed like magic. The minute I got home, the pain became so absolutely unbareable. Well, I gave up. Now I want to try again with this baby. My son is now 4 days ancient, & I’m sore as EVER. At the hospital, I breastfed him and even though I was in a lot of pain, I managed. The night I got home and went to feed him, it hurt so much I HAD to take him off because the pain had me in tears. I’m wondering if it’s the place I’m sitting or the pillows I’m using that could be making a difference. I desperately want to breastfeed though b/c it’s healthier. The consultants say my positioning is fine and the baby is having no problems latching. Have any moms had this problem and found a solution? Any tips that I can do at home to make this simpler? Does a nursing pillow or nursing chair make a difference? I don’t want to give up this time.

“Butterflies” feeling in stomach every night when I try to go to sleep?

12 Jan

It never fails, as soon as I hit the pillow at night I get a horrible sinking butterflies feeling in my tummy, and then I can’t sleep. I’m up for hours on end because of this feeling. What is it? And I am a nursing mom so I doubt I can take any meds for it. Help!

if you breastfeed you gotta read this!?

11 Jan

hey guys i have a 3 week ancient baby boy and i’ve been using regular bed pillows to nurse him because the boppy was hard and not flexable and i reckon it sucks honestly…well i just want you guys to know…i went to walmart a couple hours ago and got the George nursing pillow and more…thats what its called. and this is by far the most comfortable way i’ve ever breastfed. its SO soft and flexable perfect for nursing in any position…my baby really nursed better then he normally does when we used this. it was only 20 dollars too versus 40 for an uncomfortable boppy. it fits well over your newly not pregnant tummy and it has this small seat that you can sit your baby in the pillow and pull the seat up so he can stay in it..i just wanted to tell you guys who nursing about this pillow ..i’ve breastfed 3 kids and this is awesome! excellent luck to all with breastfeeding i reckon you’ll like this pillow if you get it. so yeah..not a question just a proposition :0)
